New Pay Scale 2026: How Payfixation.gov.bd is Managing the Historic Salary Revision for 1.4 Million Employees
As Bangladesh implements a major pay structure revision in FY 2026-27, the payfixation.gov.bd portal is central to calculating and disbursing the new salaries and pensions.
A Landmark Pay Revision for FY 2026-27
The fiscal year 2026-27 marks a historic moment for Bangladesh's public sector. Following the recommendations of the latest National Pay Commission, the government has approved a new pay scale that increases basic salaries across all grades by approximately two to two-and-a-half times. This revision affects over 1.4 million active employees and 900,000 pensioners, with an annual expenditure of Tk 1.31 trillion. The payfixation.gov.bd portal is at the heart of this massive administrative undertaking.
How the Portal Handles the Revision
The payfixation.gov.bd system, integrated with iBAS++, automatically recalculates each employee's basic pay based on the new grade-wise scales. The process includes:
- Automatic Increment Application: Annual increments due on July 1, 2026, are factored into the new pay.
- Pension Re-fixation: Pensioners' benefits are recalculated using the updated scales, ensuring they receive the correct amount from the first month of the fiscal year.
- Data Validation: The system cross-checks each employee's NID, grade, and service history to prevent errors.
Challenges and Solutions
Implementing such a large-scale revision is not without challenges. The Finance Division has deployed additional server capacity to handle the surge in portal traffic. Accounts offices across the country are working overtime to upload updated data, especially for pensioners who need to submit their PPO books for re-fixation. The portal now includes a real-time status tracker so employees can see when their new pay is finalized.
What Employees and Pensioners Should Do
If you are a government employee, log in to payfixation.gov.bd with your 17-digit NID to verify your new basic pay and grade. For pensioners, visit your local accounts office with your NID, PPO book, and mobile number to ensure your data is updated. The system will send an SMS once the re-fixation is complete, and payments will be made via EFT. This digital-first approach ensures transparency and minimizes delays, setting a new standard for public administration in Bangladesh.
